| Description: | Performs engineering activities for projects which may include planning, analysis, design, integration, simulation model development, testing, verification and validation and documentation. Position offers opportunities to publish in scholarly journals, as well as investigate and develop new technologies. Will also be expected to pursue and secure other business opportunities for the lab.
Required: MS in a technical degree with 2-4 years of experience or PhD in a technical degree with 0-2 years of experience. Preferable degree in Physics. Experience with ultrafast and steady-state optical measurement techniques, including but not confined to pump-probe, time-resolved photoluminescence and photuluminescence excitation experiments. Must have a current security clearance or the ability to attain one. Understanding of solid state physics, optical materials, semiconductors, surface plasmonics, and rare earth-doping a plus. Experience with optical parametric amplifiers, ultraviolet and infrared sources also beneficial. Knowledge of data analysis and instrument-control programs such as Origin, MatLab, Labview and Excel necessary. Materials-growth experience not necessary, though understanding of growth techniques is beneficial.
